Making yourself beautiful for the wedding day doesn't start the night before – it begins months and months prior. Attaining beauty perfection is a process; you must follow each and every step if you hope to radiate on the most important day of your life.

So how do you prepare? First, visit an aesthetician. You're going to be seeing the same person for the next few months, so make sure that you choose someone who has excellent credentials. You don't want to put your precious face in the hands of an amateur. You could end up worse coming out as you did going in.

The aesthetician will help you figure out what kind of treatments you need. Some questions that they will cover:

  1. Do you have oily skin, dry, or combination?
  2. Do you have a lot of scar tissue on the surface, or deep blemishes?
  3. Would you say you have sensitive skin?
  4. Is there a lot of sun exposure on your skin?
  5. What kind of moisturizer and face wash are you currently using?
  6. What do you hope to accomplish with these treatments?

Facial treatments aren't a one-fits-all kind of deal. Your aesthetician should have a wide selection of treatments custom-designed with your face in mind.

If you've never pampered yourself in this way before, be warned – it's not cheap! For the best results you should plan on seeing a beautician 2-3 times before the wedding day. This could easily come out to be $250 - $400. One hour long session alone could end up costing you $100. At some Philadelphia spas you can find package deals which cover 3 sessions for a discounted price. If you see something like this, take advantage. It's worth every penny. If you can't afford this, go for 2, 30 minute-long sessions prior to the wedding should do the trick.

What you decide to do with your nails are up to you. Most brides go for always-elegant, ever-classy French tips. Better then French tips are pink and whites, which look more natural and last longer. Word to the wise: If you're planning on going white-water rafting or scuba diving on your honeymoon, acrylic nails may not be the best choice for you. In that case, leave your nails as is and just go to the salon for a basic manicure and pedicure.
